Greetings from Rome. I am writing to invite you to contribute to a special issue of Development (www.sidint.org/development) as a written report of the AWID Forum on ‘The Power of Movements’ based on the speeches and papers given at the Cape Town meeting 14 to 17 November 2008.

 
The journal issue will be a unique resource on the power of movements, a record of the knowledge and vision and efforts of the many participants in Cape Town that compliments the multimedia resources already available. The journal issue will go to all 2,000 participants of the Forum as well as to the 3,000 subscribers and 400 institutions of the journal Development. For over 52 years Development has been publishing cutting edge articles on development related issues including the last AWID Forum Report on Women’s Rights and Development. The English language issue will be distributed by the London publisher Palgrave and will also be translated into Spanish and French and will be available in those languages and also in English on the AWID website.
 

We are now putting together the journal issue ready for publication in spring this year. We would be very pleased if you could write up or send art work on the Wings of A Butterfly We have allowed around 3,000 words or 6 pages for your contribution, but this can be adjusted depending on your needs.

 
Given the publishers’ deadlines for the production schedule we would need the article at the latest by February 20 at the Editorial office. I would be very happy to work with you on your notes in order to ensure you can make this deadline.

 
Please do let me know as soon as possible if you are able to contribute an article so that I can follow up immediately with more guidelines and production procedure.
