Raquel Hernández Castro

Raquel is a Costa Rican professional actress, and also a theatre professor at the Academy of the Cultural Association of Coronado where she also works in production and promotions. She was the producer of the shows, “El Diario de un Loco” (The Diary of a Madman) and “En Alta Mar” (In High Seas), as well as an actress and promoter in “Caperucita Verde” (Little Green Riding Hood), “La Ratoncita, La Gata y un Viaje por el Agua” (The Mouse, the Cat and a Trip Through the Water), “Las Desventuras de Guli B.” (The Dis-adventures of Guli B.), “Fin de partida”and “El Combate” (The Combat).

She was also a professor at the Cultural Association of Giratablas for seven years, and was president and producer for the Association of Artistic Education Productions EDUCARTE, and the Children’s Theatre EDUCARTE Festival in the past six productions until 2008, which was a collaboration with the Mélico Salazar Popular Theatre and the Ministry of Culture. The last two productions involved cooperation with the international groups “Binefar” in Spain and “La Fanfarria” in Colombia.
Raquel is also an independent actress, performing in “Yerma”, Grupo Ditirambo; “La mujer sola" (The Single Woman) by Dario Fo,” “Panorama desde el puente” (Panorama from the Bridge) by Arthur Miller, “Laberintos de amor derramado” (Labyrinths of Overflowing Love). a monologue of “La Mujer Sola” (The Single Woman) by Dario Fo and Franca Rame with whom she participated in the project “Creciendo Juntas” (Growing Together) by the National Institute of Social Welfare (IMAS) and the National Institute of Permanent Training (INA).
She was an audiovisual producer in the TV program, “Leyendas Costarricenses” (Costa Rican Legends), and has produced TV ads and radio broadcasts. Raquel studied at the National Theatre Workshop (TND) in Costa Rica and has a Bachelor's degree in Performing Arts from the Universidad Nacional (National University) in Herreria.
