María Suárez Toro

María Suárez Toro is a renowned social communicator, journalist and educator from Puerto Rico who resides in Costa Rica since the 1970s.

She is co-founder and producer for FIRE - Feminist International Radio Endeavour

She was co-founder of Wings of the Butterfly with Guadalupe Urbina in 2006 and shared with her the Co-coordination until Guadalupe resigned from the project in 2007.

Maria is the author on which the show Wings of the Butterfly will be based. She has already received three awards for her work in Wings of the Butterfly and her book:
GAEA Foundation Artistic Residency 2007,
Donella Meadows Sustainability Institute Fellowship 2007-2008.
Who is Who in Education in the United States 2007.

Yarman Elaine Jiménez Ramírez

Yarman Jiménez Ramírez has participated in the Wings of the Butterfly project since it began in 2006. She is web mistress and videographer, and part of the national advisory board for the project, and served as acting co-coordinator for the last six months of 2008.

Yarman is from Cuba and has lived in Costa Rica for the past 6 years. She is a journalist and videographer, and works as a producer for FIRE -- Feminist International Radio Endeavour.

She has a degree in film and history from the University of Havana, earned in 1997.

Ana Constanza Rangel Núñez

Ana Constanza Rangel Nunez was born in Mexico and has lived in Costa Rica for more than two decades. She has a doctorate in Education and a Master's in Health Psychology. Constanza does clinical work as a psychoanalyst and psychotherapist. Also, she is a university professor, researcher and consultant in feminist epistemology and sexuality.

 



The Project Wings of the Butterfly is an initiative by a group of feminists in Costa Rica and an international Advisory Group that seeks to make a contribution to women’s movement building through art, epistemology and popular education.


It is supported by HIVOS and Mama Cash in The Netherlands, the Global Fund for Women in the United States and the Central American Women’s Fund.
